Community

All members of the community are welcome!

Our business is primarily about people and we invest a lot of time building up personal relationships with our customers and clients.

Our core products and services include three rooms to hire, offices to rent, and supporting the local community although our business is much broader than that.

The centre is a champion of social justice and we seek to exemplify good practice within the organisation, not only to responding to what the law demands, but setting standards over and above this.

Our commitment to seeking justice is evident in our use of our end of year profits, our promotion of fairly traded goods, and in the platform we provide for the vulnerable and marginalised.

Community Users

The aim of the centre is to help relieve poverty of all kinds, we are about breaking down barriers and creating pathways and bridges for vulnerable people. We believe that integration is a two-way process in which society at large and specific communities adapt, understand and benefit.

Our niche in the marketplace is providing a first base for local people and community groups, the nurturing of those groups from diverse communities can contributes to community cohesion.

Groups

All community groups are welcome!

St Peter’s Centre is the hub of Hillfields where groups meet to share and celebrate their cultural values. Like minded people meet, on a regular basis, to discuss and contribute to the changing landscape of this vibrant neighbouthood.

Hillfields is a dynamic and changing neighbourhood, in the St Michael’s Ward of Coventry. It has a strong community spirit and a culturally diverse population of around 10,000 people.

In addition to this the The Swanswell Initiative programme is transforming the high rise, public housing landscape of the 1960′s and replacing it with new multi-tenure apartments and housing, a relocated City College, a new school and a new healthcare centre.

The Swanswell Initiative Community Liaison Group meet at St Peter’s Centre on a six weekly basis.

Kairos an organisation that supports women who express the wish to leave prostitution, to develop skills, and to start a new life.

Re-Unite Project

Re-Unite is a partnership between The Children’s Society and Coventry Connexions. We work with children or young people under the age of eighteen who spend one night or more away from the family home or care without permission, or who have been forced to leave by their parents or carers.

We aim to help young people to stay safe by empowering them to address the risk factors in their lives. The project provides them with advice, guidance and support in a manner that is respectful of their needs and their safety.

To make a referral you can phone or complete a project referral, including a brief risk assessment, and send by post or email, which will help us decide whether the young person needs general support or intensive support.

New Communities Forum have an office at St Peter’s Centre.

Testimonial

Being a national charity we search for training venues on the internet and we certainly struck lucky in Coventry with St Peter’s Centre. We were provided with a modern and well equipped meeting room and a very warm welcome from all the staff. Excellent value for money and it was nice to support a centre within the heart of the community.”
